Runescape Dungeoneering Binding Items Guide

If you haven't used the item-binding ability on any dungeoneering items yet, then you are missing out!

Item binding allows you to keep items when you leave a dungeon, and have that item whenever you re-enter the dungeon. For instance, say you come across a PRIMAL weapon. You realize that its a beastly good weapon, and you want to keep it every time you enter the dungeon. NO PROBLEM! Binding allows you to have this item appear in your inventory EVERY time you enter the dungeon!

How to Bind Items

To bind an item, simply right click on the item and select "Bind." Your binding capacity depends on your dungeoneering level.

Dungeoneering Level and Binding Capacity

At level 1, you can bind 1 item and 1 ammo item (125 of the same arrow or rune). For someone like me who started dungeoneering with 99 strength and 94 magic, I bound the best longsword I could wield and the maximum amount of blood runes.

At 50, you may bind 2 items. At level 100, you may bind 3 items. Finally, at level 120, you may bind 4 items. In addition, you can bind 1 ammo item at all times.

Getting the Best Possible Bind

It is important that you bind yourself with the best possible item available to you. For instance, if you have an attack level of 90, it's probably not the best idea to bind a novite dagger. Go for the best items you can use, so you will always have them every time you enter the dungeon - this will allow you to be a killing machine no matter what items are presented in the starting room.

There are a few ways to get really good bind items...

1. Bosses - Bosses often drop very valuable items. The first few bosses do not drop many weapons, so this method is not suggested in the earlier levels.

2. Making you own items - If you have the necessary levels to create your own armor and weapons, then do a dungeon one time just to collect the most money and raw materials you can. Then using those supplies or supplies you purchase from the smuggler, create the best weapon you can use.

Once you are done, bind the item, and leave the dungeon.

3. Finding a skill master - There are many people in Runescape with 99 mining, smithing, fletching and/or crafting. Convince one of these "skill masters" to do one dungeon with you just to gather skills and make a really good weapon/armor.

Here's a kind player with 99 mining/smithing offering his help on the forums. His name was removed from the picture due to privacy

With his help, you can get the best possible weapon that you are able to wield, and have it for the rest of your adventures in the dungeon until you increase your attack level to access a higher weapon tier.

Good Bind Combos

For those who have level 50+ dungeoneering, you probably already have a good idea on which bind combos work best for you. However, for the level 1's, here are some good binding combos:

Best Longsword + Best Runes -> For those with melee/mage
Best Bow + Best Arrows -> Range only
Best Staff + Best Runes -> Mage only
Best Weapon + Best Bind Runes (for ranged bosses) -> Melee Only

Conclusion to Binding

The benefits of binding is immense. If you haven't already done so, go bind the weapon and ammo that is best for you. If you have the best weapon you can use already with you, then you will have an easier time demolishing enemies and avoid arguing with group members about who deserves what weapon from the starting supplies.

Spend some time now to do a dungeon run just to get the supplies/money to create the best possible bind possible. You will find that your future dungeon floors will run much more smoothly as a result.

i used a fractite 2h for a while, and then just switched to the maul because it has 84 for a strength bonus, and the 2h has only 80.
