Introduction
If you were looking for a P2P (members) Mining guide, Look no further! I am a fairly experienced miner and I know lots of tips and secrets. So just take it easy and enjoy the complete Members Mining guide.Mining is one of the most diverse skills in the world of runescape. There are currently 18 different types of rocks, 9 types of pickaxes (including the sacred clay pick), and almost 100 mines throughout the world of Runescape. Mining is responsible for the world’s weapons and armour. It is also responsible for a large slice of the economy. It is tedious to train, however if you get to 85 mining, it will be the most rewarding skill to date.
Background
Mining is relatively simple to understand; mine ores to gain experience. The better rock you are able to mine, the more rewarding the cash is. If you do not know what one type of rock is, right-click and select ‘prospect’ and your avatar will find out for you. After you successfully mine the ore, the rock will turn brown which means it no longer contains an ore. Fear not however, for that ore will return shortly. The amount of time it takes for the ore to return depends on what level is required to retrieve the ore. I will get more in to that later. Another variable is the amount of people in a world, of there is more people in a world, the ore will return faster.
Requirements for Pickaxes
The only thing required to mine is a pickaxe. The higher level pickaxe you use, the more effective the pickaxe will be. Even if you do not have the required level to WIELD a certain pickaxe, you can still use it to mine a rock. For example, if I had 41 mining but I only have 25 attack I can use a rune pickaxe. Cool right?
Ore Information
Money While Training
I know gaining levels AND making money at the same time can be difficult. However, with mining it is a piece of cake. Read on to find out.
Levels 1-20
The fastest way to train your mining is to do what experienced miners call powermining. Powermining is when you mine an ore, then drop the ore, then mine more, then drop more, and so on. This method is used for miners who want quick experience without all the time it takes to bank the ore.
You do not have a wide selection of ores to mine. Therefore you cannot make very much money. All though you will not make any money, it is very easy to raise the levels at this point. You may also want to save your ores and smelt/smith them to keep your smithing and mining around the same level.
Your very first 20 levels are going to fly by very fast. It is apparent to experienced miners to start out in the east-varrock mine. That’s because THEY started there. To get there, go out the east gate of varrock and run south. You will not miss it. Bring nothing but a bronze pickaxe. Mine the heck out of those copper rocks. Once you get a full inventory, drop the ores and mine more.
If you wish to raise your smithing too, get 14 copper and 14 tin ores, run up the east wall of varrock and store them in your bank.
Levels 21-40
Now that you have reached level 20, you can mine silver and iron also. Get yourself a Mithril pickaxe and start mining the iron ores. There are two great places for this. You could stay at the east-varrock mine, or you can head to the al-karid chasm. The al-karid chasm is dangerous for low levels because it is infested with level-14 scorpions.
Once you get a lot of iron in your bank, note them and head down to the Varrock Grand Exchange. The grand exchange will be your best friend while you train your mining. Place all of your ore as a ‘sell order’ for market price. If you want quick cash, set a ‘sell order’ for the minimum price and it should sell right away making you some good money.
Keep mining iron until level 41; trust me it is the fastest way. Keep selling your iron or smelting/smithing your iron to make more cash.
Levels 41-58
At this point you should have made a hefty amount of money with the iron. Of you have a spare 19.5k go ahead and purchase a rune pickaxe. At level 41 you should move on from iron to coal. Coal is a great resource to runescape being the #21 most sold item with over 16 million in stock.
Mine and bank the coal from barbarian village for great money. However, if it experience you are looking for, keep powermining iron. The rimmington mine, south of Falador, is a great place to powermine iron. Do that until level 60.
Levels 60-70
Level 60 is the “fun” part of mining. It may be relatively boring to level up at this point, but it is great money. Level 60 is great in particular because you can now access the mining guild. The mining guild is a powerminer’s dream. It is packed with 37 coal rocks and 5 Mithril rocks.
Here is one strategy I personally use to raise my mining, smithing, magic, and runecrafting level ALL at the same time!
Requirements: 60 mining, 43 magic
You will need: 1k Nature runes, 1 fire staff, and 1 rune pickaxe. Wield the staff and keep the runes and pickaxe in your inventory.
The routine: Go into the mining guild with all of the above items. Mine 12 coal ores. Then mine 3 Mithril ores. Use your superheat spell on the Mithril rocks. This will make Mithril bars with 4 coal and a Mithril ore. Keep doing this until your inventory is full of Mithril bars then store them in your bank and do it again. This is great experience for all 4 of the above skills.
Levels 70-84
I must say at this point, you have some amazing patience. Mining is a very tedious skill to train, especially at high levels. To keep your mind off the boring work, watch a movie on your computer or read through forums and guides. It will keep you fairly entertained for a while.
The best place to make money at this point is the Hobgoblin mine located directly north of Edgeville. It has 32 coal rocks, 19 Mithril rocks, and 8 Adamant rocks.
The only problem with this mine is that it is jam packed with aggressive level-28 hobgoblins and there are some revenants floating around too. IF you decide to risk the hobgoblins, make sure you bring some armour and a little bit of food too.
Levels 85-99
Congratulations!! You are now an elite runescape miner. You have the ability to obtain Runite from a rock! There are a few runite rocks scattered about runescape. This is the best way to make money in Runescape. Find a runite rock, mine it, hop to the next world, and mine the rock again. Do this until you have a full inventory and store them in your bank. You can make a whopping 450,000gp from just one inventory of runite rock mining. This adds up to up to 2.5mill per hour!!
You are not going reach 99 mining and get that glorious cape by mining rune though. If you want 99 mining you need to powermine, powermine, powermine!! Again, this will take months at least, so pop in that favorite movie, charge up that iPod, and start mining your heart out
Random Events
Rock Golem: Rock Golems are monsters that appear at times when you try to mine a rock. Their level depends on your combat level. If a very low combat level (under 3-10), you will receive a level 14 Rock Golem, level 11-20 will receive a level 29. Level 21-40 get a level 49; level 41-60 get level 79. Level 61-90 will get a level 120 Rock Golem. 90+ combat players will receive a level 159 Rock Golem. Rock Golems throw rocks at you, so merely putting yourself on the other side of an ore-containing rock will not protect you.
Gas Rock: It will appear in the form of a rock with green-gray bubbles coming out of it. When you see this, DO NOT attempt to mine this rock, because it will then explode and you will have damaged your pickaxe, which you can have Nurmof fix (use the damaged pickaxe with Nurmof to have him fix it). If nobody attempts to mine a "bubbling" rock, it will return to normal after 20 seconds or so. The price to fix a Rune pickaxe is 1100gp, for other types it would be less.

nice guide dude, I'm gonna train my mining soon and training it along with superheat is nice.
i actually found an easy way to get mining xp fast and you only need lv 10 mining to do it. My mining lvs only 54 and Ive tried the coal mining method and it bored me senseless, because it was so slow. we try to mine the most rewarding rock we can cause that's our mentality, but we forget the time it takes to mine the rock itself. I've found limestone is the fastest way you can mine, but this method only work if you power-mine it. each rock contains 3 things of limestone and you can mine a rock clean in about 3-4 seconds. 26.5 xp for each piece of limestone X 3 + 79.5 xp. it usually take around 5-10 seconds to mine 1 coal or a gem rock. and you get 50-65 xp each. so its faster to power-mine limestone than it is to any other rock. more xp in less time, more for less. and you dont need to do regicide for it, most of you over look the limestone mine were the rag and bone man is, (quest start of fur n' seek and rag and bone man) comfortably about 3-4 ppl can be there at a time. there is of course the quarry south of the bandit camp but you will have to have some waterskins. limestone method ismore convinient but the quarry does yeild slightly some better xp, you just cant stay there forever. :) any questions my user names qweeqweeman and im on lot. im using these methods cuz i want to do lunar diplomacy.
