Observatory Quest

To begin: Talk to the Observatory Professor in the Observatory Reception.
Quests Required: None.
Skills Required: 10 Crafting
Recommended Combat: 40 (defeat a level 42 Goblin Guard)
Items Required: 3 Planks, a bronze bar and some molten glass.

Stage 1: The Professor

Talk to the Professor in the Observatory Reception Building just north of the actual observatory. You can get there quickly by using Spirit Trees or by teleporting to Ardougne.



He tells you that the telescope within the Observatory is broken. Agree to help him, and he will ask for 3 planks, a bronze bar and some molten glass.

1.) Planks : Made in Lumberyard North-East of Varrock.

2.) Bronze Bar : Smelted with copper and tin ore.

3.) Molten Glass : Fritz the Glassblower on Entrana can teach you how to make this with your crafting skill. Simply use a piece of seaweed on a stove to get soda ash, then use the soda ash and a bucket of sand on a furnace. A GLASSBLOWING PIPE IS NTO REQUIRED!

Once you have the items, return to the Observatory and hand them to the Professor. He will explain that the Lens Mould has been stolen by Goblins! Talk to his Assistant to learn that it is under the goblin town to the east.

Stage 2: Obtaining the Lens Mould
Run east to the broken house and go down the stairs. You need to find a Kitchen Key by searching chests down in the cavern. There is no system of finding it, just wander aimlessly until you find it. For all keyless chests, a poison spider will emerge. If you were lucky, you may have found an anti-poison in one of the chests to cure the poison.


Once you obtain the Kitchen Key, head back to the stairs you came down and go west, to a level 1 Sleeping Guard. Prod him, and he will emerge as a level 42 Goblin Guard. He is just a basic monster with no special abilities. A combat level of at least 40 is recommended however. Kill him, and enter the Kitchen Gate. Inspect the Goblin Stove and leave.

Go up the stairs again and return to the Professor.

Stage 3: The Telescope

Show him the Lens Mould and he will give you the molten glass back. Use the molten glass on the lens mould to obtain an Observatory Lens. Talk to him again, then go back down the stairs. Head to the Kitchen Gate, then follow the path to the other stairs you might have noticed while looking for the Kitchen Key. Go up and watch the cutscene.








Go up the stairs and talk to the Professor. After looking into the telescope, he asks you what you saw. You can answer anything at all, just choose which star-sign you were born on. Whichever one you chose, decides your reward! Congratulations, Quest Complete!



Extra Knowledge/Rewards

• After completion of the quest you can visit the Spirit of Scorpius to obtain an Unholy Mould and even bless them for you.
• The assistant will give you a jug of wine for making his life easier if you talk to him afterwards.
• Any other time you look through the telescope you will see Scorpius. The Professor has some extra knowledge downstairs if you talk to him about it...
