More Grand Exchange Tips and Tricks

Guide Written By: Manofweird68

Background
There are clans that mass merch an item and cause it's prices to skyrocket. What most people tend to forget though, is that the prices bottom out when everyone dumps an item. For example, a clan decides to buy out sharks. They start out at 1,000gp each, and over the next few days reach a price of about 1,500 - 1,750gp. This is when they decide to dump an item. That means every person who bought that item sells it at mid or minimum. This causes the item to rapidly decline in value because there is too much of it on the market. Here is where people ignore the facts. The item bottoms out, and most of the time gets right back up to it's original price! With sharks, they might bottom out to 850gp, and then people that are not aware of the clan buy it again because they want profits, just like you! The shark could then get back up to 1,000 gp, maybe a little less. This is when you sell it, and enjoy the profits! this doesn't happen al the time though, just look at guthan spears. They used to be 2million gp each. Now they are about 700k. Wow? Usually you know when and when not to merch an item because even after it gets dumped, it has the "wave effect" which Is when prices rise and fall over and over. Following these drops and rises, you can easily make tons of cash while playing it safe.

Make Cash on Armor Sets
Another way to make cash is to make armor sets. In my opinion, the best sets to create are ahrims, torags, karils if you have cash, and adamant sets or rune sets if you're a little low. To do this, check the grand exchange database for the set you want to create and merch. If it is on a slope going down, don't even try it. If it is slightly going up, try it out. If it is a steady line with only a few ups and downs, do it. That means it is stable, which means it is almost ballanced between buying and selling. Once you have found your item, head on over to the next section!

Ok, you have your set in mind and you are convinced it will do good. I'm going to use adamant as an example. First off, get to the grand exchange and get about 20,000 gp into your inventory. Trade with the exchange clerk and buy an adamant full helm. These always buy at minimum because they are a common pvp drop.

Next, buy a set of adamant platelegs. Try buying them at 100-50gp or so below market price. Then, get an adamant platebody. I buy this at mid price, but you can try this a little under. Finally, get an adamant kite. Buy this at mid price too. Don't worry if it doesn't buy right away, it will.

Now I recommend you multi-task. Play some games (or some Runescape!!) or watch tv while you wait for the items to buy. When they finally do, have them all in your inventory un-noted. Right click on one of the clerks and select, "sets". This brings you to a screen where there are bunches of little boxes. Find the adamant armor set (I) box somewhere in the beginning of the second row. Right click and select "exchange." this will take all 4 of the adamant pieces in your inventory (helm, platebody, legs, and kite) and turn it into a set, or a box containing those items. Finally, trade with the clerk again and sell the box at about 500-1,000gp above the market price. Wait for it to sell, and enjoy the profits. Please note that it is way more profitable to buy these items in bulk after you find out it did good or bad. If you lose cash, don't merch that item. If you make cash, don't go all out, but buy about 30-40 more.

Quick tips:
Always check the graphs before making sets and/ or merching the dumped items.
You can trade only 10 barrow sets every 3 hours and 100 adamant sets every 3 hours.
The more money you have, the more you make.
Don't go all out at once. The item might not work.
Don't get mad if you lose money, you'll get it back soon!
Happy merching my friends!
