Firewalls
In 1990, if you even mentioned computer security, people would have looked at you like you're crazy. But now computer security is a real danger.
Mainly if you use Microsoft Windows, but even Mac's are influenced, computer security is not something to be shrugged off lightly. You could put three years into your Runescape character only to wake up one day with your account hacked, your security questions reset, and no hope left.
But don't despair! I will show you the simple paths to avoiding problems before it happens to you! Let's get started.
Choosing A Strong Firewall
Your computer is very much like a piece of notepaper. If you write your name and address on it, and hand it to your teacher, they now know something about you. In the same way, if you write your Runescape username and answers to your recovery questions on your computer, there is the potential for them to be handed out - but to whom?
A firewall prevents anyone in the world from just typing a few quick lines of code and stealing everything in your computer! If you have nothing else, you want a firewall. Luckily, many companies like Microsoft, Apple, Sun, etc, package firewalls with their computer. Unfortunately, these firewalls aren't really good, but they are something. Make sure yours is on. Read the manual that came with your computer, turn it on!
I personally recommend a FREE firewall named ZONEALARM.

Firewalls like Zone Alarm will bring you closer to keeping your account completely safe. You should keep in mind however, Firewalls will protect you somewhat from hackers getting access to your computer, but you should always use your head to prevent yourself from getting into situations that put your computer's security at risk.
