ultimate charm guide

Summoning is a skill used to summon creatures from another demension. No it's not the boogyman or the things that go bump, but the very creatures of runescape, like the spirit graak or terrabird. Summoning can be tough because you need to obtain charms, but this guide will show you how to get them fast and easily.

Requirements: must have completed wolf whistle quest.
Must be a member.

Starting off: this guide is showing you how to get charms, not train summoning. To start off, you will want to stock up on some armor and food, as you will be fighting monsters for the charms. It is reccomended that you do slayer tasks to get extra exp, and just think of the charms as a nice bonus. When you kill a monster you will have a chance of getting one of four charms. The colors are blue, crimson, gold, and green. Some monsters drop only certain colors, while others drop all of them. Some will drop more of others and less of the other colors, like a ratio of 1:5 being gold to green drops. This following section will tell you where to find the monster and what charms it mainly drops. It will be catagorized by the charm, not combat level.

GOLD CHARMS: these are the "lowest" form of a charm. Even at level 52, they give less than 100 exp. The only positive thing is is that they require little charms to create the pouch, like only 1 for a terrabird pouch. Gold charms are reccomended for lower level summoners.

Ice warrior- found in the ice dungeon south of port sarim. Drops mainly golds
Fire giants- chaos tunnels, waterfall. EXCELENT exp and drops golds oftenly.
Hellhounds- taverly dungeon. High range level recommended for safespot or high combat levels needed.
Moss giants- varrock sewers, wilderness. Has about a 50% chance of a gold drop
Ankous- the stronghold of security. Drops golds oftenly.

GREEN CHARMS: green charms are the second "weakest" charm in the game. These are used in medium pouches and a few lower/ higher ones. Below are a few monsters that drop a bit of greens:

Baslisk- fremnick slayer cave. Drops greens oftenly.
Bloodvelds- slayer tower. Drops lots of greens, one of the best.
Jelly- chaos tunnels. Drops loads of greens. Also really good.
Green dragons- wilderness, chaos tunnels. Great money with an average drop rate.
Jungle horrors- mos le'harmless. Arguably the best green charm dropper.

CRIMSON CHARMS: these are the charms most people use to get to 99 with. They give decent exp and are easy to obtain. They are the top charm to power level with as they are easy to get and relitively cheap to create.

Lesser demons- karamja volcano. The best crimson charm dropped EVER!
Cocroaches- the dungeon south of edgeville. Drops crimsons oftenly and also a chance of a rune item drop.
waterfiends- chaos tunnels. About an 85% drop rate. High levels recommended
King black dragon (kbd) - kbd lair, 44 wilderness drops 4 at a time. I tried this and got a 100% drop rate. (something Is fishy there)...
Giant rock crabs- chaos tunnels. Recommended for higher levels. Use mage! Drops 10 of any charm about 1/4 of the time. My personal favorite!

BLUE CHARMS: these are the best exp but the rarest to obtain. Usually droped by higher level monsters more frequently than lower levels. Save these untill you are a high summoning level, or you will regret using them.

Kalphite guardians- kalphite lair, end of the first tunnel. Seems to drop blues more than other monsters. High levels needed.
tormented wraith- the spirit world. Mele Prayer needed with high levels. Drops frequently.
Giant rock crabs- chaos tunnels. Drops 10 of each charm. About 1/4 chance of charm drop.
King black dragon- kbd lair. Drops 4 at a time, but drops mainly crimsons.

There ya have it folks, collecting charms in a nutshell. These are only a handfull of the monsters that drop charms, but they are the ones that have the top drop rates of them. You may come across some that you love to kill, and others you will never look at again. Choose the one that you like best and stick with it. Remember, summoning takes a long time to reach 99 in, so don't feel obligated to rush.
