Runescape Firemaking Guide

Firemaking Guide

Firemaking isn't as useful as other skills, but it's not a skill to be taken lightly! If you get level 49 firemaking, you can complete the quest: Tears of Guthix, and, once done, you can collect "tears" each week. These tears give you xp in your lowest skill for FREE!!! The Runescape Money Guide can't get much better that helping you to get free xp in your least favorite skill!

You can also burn shade remains after completing "Shades of Mort'ton" quest. The shades give you keys with which you can open their graves and loot good rewards. You can also light lanterns so you can walk around underground and be able to see!

But anyway, even if you don't care for these rewards, the firemaking cape is one of the brightest and most eye-catching items in the game, flaunting its bright orange color at all other players! If you are wearing this cape, you'll stand out in a crowd! Enough said, how do you get your firemaking level up?

Level 1-25

Get a couple of gp and buy a "tinderbox" from a general store. Head over to the GE and buy normal "logs", maybe about 200. Believe me, these levels will go really fast. Though you can burn oak logs at level 15, resist the temptation, for they take a while to light if you have low levels. A good rule is not to burn any logs until you are ten levels above the level you can start burning them.

Level 25-40

Now buy about 500 oak logs on the GE. This shouldn't cost very much, oak logs are very cheap. Keep burning these logs at the GE until you get to level 40. Alternatively, you could teleport to Falador and go to the east bank and burn logs there.

Level 40-50

Buy about 800 willow logs on the GE and burn them. Keep burning them in a
place like the GE where you can burn an entire batch without having to move around too much.

Levels 50-70

Now you're up for some fun. Buy 5000 maple logs and... hey you guessed it! Burn them all. Don't do it all at once though, 800,000 xp isn't a tremendously funny thing, do a few quests in between, maybe get a few other levels up too.

Levels 70-99

You now have three choices: quit firemaking, or if you are sort of poor, burn maple logs to 99, or if you are sort of rich, you can burn yew logs to 99.

You will need about 91,000 maple logs to get to 99, and you will need about 70,000 yew logs to get to 99, so as you can see it's much more preferable to use yews... just remember, yew logs cost 350gp each and maple logs cost around 13gp each... a slight difference.

You've completed the run and have 99 firemaking. Now What?

Well, you have a nice orange cape. Personally I think the firemaking cape is the coolest in the entire game. Not very many people have 99 firemaking, so you'll have a much better rank in the hiscores. I have a cooking cape and there's a reason: it's very easy. With firemaking you can't just "cook all", it's harder, you have to burn each individual log.

How much would 99 firemaking cost?

This depends. Primarily because you could burn maples to 99 or you could start burning magic logs. I sort of wouldn't recommend burning magic logs, but I mention them to point out that you might end up spending something between 7m-20m to get 99 firemaking. Still you might want to consider whether it's more useful to spend 7m on 99 firemaking or on a Saradonim Sword.

I hate firemaking. Is there a fun way to do it?

Yes. You can play the All Fired Up minigame, directions can be found on the official Runescape website. You must be a member, and you must have completed the quest "All Fired Up" first. Or you can use the lamps that genies give you if you want to waste a good ol' skill lamp.

Ugg... firemaking. Whats a good bot I can use?

See the "Runescape Cheats" section of this website. You will..... like it ;)

it only costs 2.5 mil - 4 mil if you use willows - maples cost 35 - 45 gp ea, and they give 135 xp. but willow cost 18 - 19 gp ea and give 90 xp ea.

Dude u are okay and all, but can u suggest leveling up woodcutting to 99 before, so u can waste less money. And for the fact that fm is boring, train woodcutting and fire making at the same time.

How long does it take to get 99 fm using maple logs?

It takes about 2-3 weeks, depending on how long you are on for per day. If you are on for 4 hours a day, then it will take 2 weeks.

The best place to firemake is the Fist of Guthix lobby.
