Runescape Clans

How to Select a Perfect Clan to Join

By: Peterlor3

Clans are my home, I've loved them since they first came out. But how can one easily find a great Runescape clan? The answer is two words: you can't. The reason is that runescape clans are composed of unique groups of people, and each group of people has a different personality.

Ask your friends if they're in a clan, because chances are, that they are in a great clan. The reason that you should always start with your friends is that if you like your friends, you will probably like the people your friends hang out with. What steps can you take to ensure you are headed towards a clan suited for your tastes?

Step 1:

Become a member. This is very important because the clan community is based not only in Runescape, but also in the official Runescape forums. You might find some off-Runescape website that runs a clan forum, but those clans are often pretty bad, so you want to go the easy way.

Go to www.runescape.com, and click on the button to go to the forums:

Scroll down a little, until you come to the Clan section.

If you don't know what to do...

Click on the link:
Recruitment - Looking for a Clan. Now click on the link that says "Create a new Thread." Write a little about yourself as shown in the picture.

After a day or so, search the forums for the title of the thread you created. You will almost certainly find someone who wants you to join their clan. Follow their instructions, and, if you like the new clan, you can stay in it. If you don't like the new clan, just repeat the process ;)

If you want to look around for yourself:

Click on one of the other links such as Recruitment - 100 Combat and Over. Browse through the threads until you see one that looks great, and then fill in an "application" and join them. The application will generally ask questions such as "combat level?" "how many hours do you play a day?" and "what is your timezone?"

As always, don't get discouraged if you don't find anything soon; this is a slow process, find the perfect fit before you spend tons of time in a clan.

I am F2P and will probably remain so. What do I do?

You have much more limited options. But don't despair! You can always join a free clan chat such as "rsmg team", "global chat", "chat central", "omg", "lol", "elvemage", or "runescape". Of course, you will probably never get ranks in these, the first one excepted, so you probably won't want to devote your life to these clan chats.

You could search "runescape clan 70+" in Google, but you might get too many hits for it to be useful. But then again, you should do as you choose. Also, you might try the method I mentioned first in the guide (asking a Runescape friend for clan suggestions).

On the other hand, you could search the Runescape forums for clans that accept F2P players. The owners will typically want you to pm them ingame.

Making your own clan

If you want to make a clan on your own, try to get a partner to do it with, it will make your life a lot easier because then you can have someone more in the clan chat, more help on the forums, and someone to help you with organizing events, encouraging new members, and keeping things lively. Be sure to have an official world, an official clan thread on the forums to recruit new members, and frequent events to places such as the king black dragon, castle wars, clan wars, pest control, and other places.

Final Thoughts

Remember that you may have to search around a little bit. Or you could try to create a clan on your own. Do whatever you want, but remember Runescape is a game, and a game should be fun... have fun whatever you do ;) Good luck.
