Free Magic Training

A recent issue in training magic is that players just cannot afford the expensive runes required for training their magic levels. If you are a player low on cash, but itching to train your magic level, there's finally a solution! This guide will teach you how to rack up magic levels and experience, FREE!

Level 1-33: Fist of Guthix

Fist of Guthix is a great game not only to make money off of, but also to get free training. How can training be free? Well, as you start Fist if Guthix, your inventory is automatically filled with tons of runes that allows you to cast all the spells in the spell book. So lets get started set up how we can use this to our mage training advantage.

Step 1: Gather Equipment

You first want to make sure you have the right items on you before heading into the Fist of Guthix game. First obtain an Iron Full set (or whatever is the best melee armor you can wear). This will ensure that your magic spells are weak, thus unable to kill your opponents (you'll find out later why you DON'T want to kill your opponent). The only other item that you need is a regular staff to auto cast a spell on your enemy.

Step 2: Setting Up the Game

If this is your first time playing Fist of Guthix, you'll have to use the map to find where the game is located. To access the mini-game, you have to climb down a cave in the wilderness north of Varrok. Once you are inside, talk to the fat insect creature named Fiara. She will walk you through an annoying tutorial, and then you can enter the game.

Step 3: How to Play Out the Game

Forget the "Hunter and Hunted" thing. If you its your turn to charge the Orb, forget the Orb. Leave it there, and just run to the near of the map. Allow your opponent to kill you. This will allow you to go on the offensive, where you can start maging and earning some magic EXP.

If its your turn to hunt the person, just wait near the middle of the map. Have a spell selected on your staff, like the best spell you can do. You want to make sure your armor is on. Your objective is not to kill your opponent, but to keep him alive to keep casting spells on him and have your Magic EXP go UP. So don't try to kill him. Just keep casting weak spells on him until the time runs out. Wearing the armor will ensure that you do less damage with your spells, but that you still get the magic exp just for casting the spell.

Step 4: Wait it Out

Once you have began casting a spell on your opponent, just wait it out. Every time you level, be sure to check if you have unlocked a new offensive spell. If so, switch to that and continue attacking your opponent. Let the time run out, and you'll see in that time your magic level and exp have skyrocketed!

Step 5: Profiting (optional)

Once in a while you can even start win your games and earn tokens. You can use these tokens to trade for valuable armor that will sell for thousands of GP in the Grand Exchange.

Level 33-55: Telekinetic Grab

In this step of training, you might actually MAKE money. You need to get an Air Staff, some law runes, and a pair of quick reflexes. For this step, you are going to be telekenetically grabbing Wines of Zammorak. They are located in the Chaos Temple, a temple bordering the wilderness (just keep going north of the Fallydor northern entrance).

Once you are at the temple, its simple. Just grab the Wines of Zammorak using Telekenetic Grab before others do. Each telekenetic grab is a good amount of EXP, and you can resell each wine for more than the price of a law rune! So you make a profit in the process.

Level 55-??: High Alching or Combat

High Alching is a very profitable method in Runescape, but the downside is that it might not be completely free. Some good items, such as items that waste less than 50gp per alch, are good to alch -.

A more profitable method is to fight Hill Giants. There are tons of places where you can hide for cover in the Hill Giants dungeon west of Varrok. They are ideal to train on not only for the cover they provide, but also the Big Bones you can pick up once you kill them. Use Fire Strike, as its not that expensive, but still hits hard. Its possible that you can use the money you earned from selling your big bones to fund the much faster high alching method.

Level 62 - ??: Killing Blue Dragons

For those who are members and have level magic, you have the ability to kill Blue Dragons with one of the mightiest spells in the game and have the ability to either break-even (no losses) from the training, or even MAKE MONEY while training on these Blue Dragons.
