Runescape Cooking Money Guide

In the old tutorial islands of Runescape, cooking is one of the first skills a player is introduced to. Cooking is a useful skill as it allows players to make better and better food which is bought with a premium price by renowned Monster slayers and PvPers.

An issue with cooking is that the cooked item usually costs less than the uncooked item, since players buy raw items to train their cooking level. This tends to make cooking expensive. However, there are some items which you can buy, use to gain cooking exp, and then sell to make a profit while gaining cooking exp. This guide will teach you how to get to 99 cooking while making tons of money in the process!



Level 1-7: Anchovies

For the first few levels, there is little to no profit. Since there are very little items at this stage that you can sell in cooked form for a profit, we will try to break even. You will need to buy Raw Anchovies, and sell them in their cooked form.

You will need to cook 22 anchovies.


Level 7-39: Baked Potatoes
You will need to bake approximately 2,200 potatoes to get from level 7 to level 39. It's best to buy all 2.2K potatoes from the GE. Assuming that the price difference between potatoes and baked potatoes stay constant, you will make around 200gp profit per potato.

Keep in mind potatoes must be cooked on a range. They always burn if you cook them on an open fire.

Each inventory full takes about 1.5 minutes to cook using the Edgeville bank and the nearby stove. That's 40 inventories full of potatoes cooked per hour, so you get around 250K gp and 16,800 Cooking Exp per hour.

To get from level 7 cooking to level 39 cooking, you will need to cook 2.2k potatoes. Assuming you can cook 1120 potatoes per hour (40 inventories per hour * 28 potatoes per inventory), it will take you 2 hours to cook all the potatoes and reach 39 cooking.

What's the total profit of cooking 2.2K potatoes?

Amount of Potato x Profit per Potato = Total profit

2200 x 200gp = 440K gp

In summary, it will take you 2 hours to get from level 7 to 39 cooking, and you will make approximately 440K gp in the process.


Level 39-65: Buttered Potatoes

What's a potato without some toppings? Now you can move on to adding butter to potatoes. Use a baked potato and a pat of butter to make Potato with Butter (PwB). Each PwB you produce will bring you a 150gp profit and 40 exp. It takes 30 seconds to make 14 PwB's.

That means, every hour you can make 1680 Potato with Butter. With that being said, you will gain 250K gp and 67K Cooking Exp per hour! You will need to make 4354 PwB's to get to level 65 cooking.

Producing 1680 PwB's per hour, it will take you 2.5 hours to get from level 39 cooking to level 65 cooking. So what's the total profit of making 4354 Potatoes with Butter?

Amount of PwB's x Profit per PwB = Total Profit

4354 x 150 gp = 650K gp

In summary, it will take you 2.5 hours to get from 39 to 65 cooking, and you will make 650K gp in the process.

Use this method to get to 65 cooking, where you will be introduced to the final and most powerful method to reaching the coveted cooking level of 99.


Level 65-99 : Pineapple Pizza

From here on, pizzas are your new best cooking specialty. Since pineapple pizzas heal a whopping 22hp, they are in hot demand by fighters who go on special monster hunting trips located far away from banks or food sources.

To make pineapple pizza, all you have to do is use pineapple rings with a plain pizza. Just withdraw 14 pineapple rings and 14 plain pizzas. Use the rings on the pizza, make all, and you'll have 14 Pineapple pizzas.

It takes only 30 seconds for every 14 Pineapple pizza to be produced. That means every hour, you can do 120 inventories (14 pizzas per inventory) of Pineapple pizza. That factors out to 1680 (120 x 14) Pineapple Pizzas per hour.

Each pineapple pizza produced yields a profit of 200gp, and 45 cooking exp. You can make 1680 pineapple pizzas per hour. That's 325K gp and 75k Cooking exp per hour. Use this method to get tons of gp and exp on your way to 99 cooking!

So what's the total profit of getting from level 65 to level 99 coking?

Amount of Pineapple Pizza Produced x Profit per P-Pizza = Total Profit

67000 x 200gp = 13.4 MILLION GP!!

For those who are curious, you'll need to make 67K pineapple pizzas to get from level 65 cooking to level 99 cooking. It takes approximately 40 hours (1680 pizzas per hour, so 40 hours to 67000 pizzas) of adding pineapple rings to plain pizzas in order to get from 65 cooking to 99 cooking. Best of luck!

In summary, it will take you 40 hours to get from level 65 to 99 cooking, and you will make 13.4M gp in the process.

In Summary...

If you plan to get to 99 cooking, be prepared to use up a good bit of time. It will take you 45 hours to get from level 1 to 99 cooking. In the process, you will make approximately 15M gp. Best of luck!
